  • Underwear

It is a category of clothing that sticks to our skin. In the morning, they are put on first. In the evening, they are the last we take off. Long confined to a practical and functional role, they are no longer content to play second fiddle. They become full-fledged elements of the wardrobe. And this is true for both men and women.

OUR SECOND SKIN

For a long time, lingerie, corsetry and hosiery were distinguished. It was customary to distinguish lingerie, corsetry and hosiery. Lingerie has a hygienic function, like a wall between the body and the garment. The purpose of corsetry is to draw the curves of the female body, according to the aesthetic fashions of the moment. It is about drawing a more or less round chest, deciding on a more or less fine waist or widening the hips. Women accept wearing this object (sometimes torture) because it allows them to erase the defects of their figure.

Finally, hosiery covers the manufacturing, industry and trade of knitted fabric items. This category generally includes stockings, socks and some lingerie items such as undershirts or panties. It is also in this field that Armor hosiery was created in Quimper in 1983 by the Swiss entrepreneur Walter Hubacher.

TODAY'S UNDERWEAR REFLECTS THE EVOLUTION OF THESE THREE BRANCHES.

Today, only fashion historians can distinguish between these three branches. Each category has been grouped under the generic term of underwear. Today's underwear is the result of the evolution of these three families. Until the 1950s, underwear was limited to the bare minimum, especially for men. Brands do not mince their words, even if they try to offer a few original pieces to women.

Everything will change in the 60s and 70s. Underwear becomes an essential element in the wardrobe of these ladies and then a fashion item in the 80s. From the 90s, it is the turn of men to take an interest in the question. The offer expands. The briefs are no longer alone: shorties, boxers and other briefs join them on the shelves.

WHEN UNDERWEAR NO LONGER PLAYS SECONDARY ROLES...

With this ancient know-how, the Armor Lux brand has developed a whole range of underwear combining comfort and elegance. Quality materials are preferred: cotton, modal, wool or silk. The whole family can find what they are looking for. Like pajamas, lingerie is no longer hidden among women. It is an integral part of an outfit. A lace camisole is worn under a slightly transparent blouse, an embroidered T-shirt dresses the neckline of a blouse. Men are not left out and demand comfort and elegance for their tops. The success of the sleeveless tank top, sometimes called a marcel, is undeniable. And for briefs, boxers or boxer shorts? Everyone has already chosen their camp.
