Type II Surgical Mask: bacterial filtration efficiency > 98%
The mask should not be worn for more than 4 hours.
The mask should be changed in the following cases:
- to drink or eat
- once removed or in contact with the outside
- when it gets wet
The elasticated straps go behind the ears.
The surgical mask is a single-use medical protection that prevents the projection of airway secretions or saliva that may contain transmissible infectious agents during expiration.
The surgical mask protects the wearer against “droplets”. It does not protect against airborne infectious agents.
Standard NF EN 14683 adds a splash resistance test (type 1R and 2R):
1 ? Droplet transmission = transmission by droplets of saliva or upper airway secretions
2 ? “Airborne” transmission = airborne transmission by fine particles (“droplet nuclei”, dust)
